Visit Broadstairs - Broadstairs Visitor Attractions

Broadstairs is a picturesque seaside town in Kent. Situated on the Isle of Thanet, it is a quintessentially English coastal town with a picturesque, orange-sand bay backed by rows of handsome Victorian sea-front properties. Known as the 'jewel in Thanet's crown', its crest motto reads Stella Maris which translates as 'Star of the Sea'.

Broadstairs is situated some 80 miles from London and is within close distance of Margate and Ramsgate. However, unlike its brasher neighbours, Broadstairs does much to retain its Victorian charm and quaintness. Punch and Judy shows are still run at the beach front and donkey rides can be arranged during the summer months.

It is a fascinating town with a proud history that includes legendary sea admirals and one particularly famous author. There's also a grittier side to Broadstairs' past involving smuggling and shipbuilding. Thankfully, much of this fascinating history has been retained, such as Charles Dickens' Bleak House.
